US/Eastern

VBEC and VPMEP are co-sponsoring a breakfast meeting on September 30 at the Clarion Richmond Airport Hotel from 7:30 - 9:30 am.  The speaker will be Laura Pyzik from the Office of Policy, Economics and Innovation at the US Environmental Protection Agency.

This session will expand the traditional defnition of Lean manufacturing to one that includes environmental wastes.  This session is designed to explore practical tools for helping organizations get better environmental results from their Lean Manufacturing initiatives.  Companies across numerous business sectors in the U.S. are implementing Lean Manufacturing principles and methods as a core business strategy.  Over the past three years, EPA partnered with several companies implementing Lean to identify successful strategies and techniques for connecting Lean and environmental initiatives to achieve better business and environmental results.  In the last year, EPA further developed specific Lean tools to maximize energy savings.  This session will present specific examples of what other manufacturers have been able to achieve using these tools.
